FAQ & Troubleshooting
------------------------------------
1. Do I need to charge the batteries before use?
Yes, unit must be left in full sun with the switch in the OFF position for 24 - 36 hours. This equates to 5 - 7 days, depending on how many hours of direct sunlight per day. This will lengthen the life of the batteries & will give you a brighter light. You may also precharge the batteries using a battery charger, which means they can be switched on straight away.
2. Will my light charge in shaded areas, cloudy or rainy days?
Yes, but this will result in reduced brightness and working time at night. For optimal performance of your solar light a location which receives 6 - 8 hours of direct sun should be selected.
3. Will my light turn on automatically?
Yes, it has a built in sensor which detects the level of light and controls when your light will automatically turn on and off.
4. How long will the batteries last?
The batteries supplied with the unit should last for 12 months.
5. What is the best battery to use in my solar light?
Any 1.2V Ni-Mh (Nickel Metal Hydride) rechargeable battery, as these are environmentally friendly and do not have a memory. Nickel Cadmium may also be used but aren't as efficient.
6. Can I use a higher mAH capacity battery?
Yes but not lower. The higher mAH capacity batteries will store power when the days are long and sunny. This means they will be more efficient on days that are overcast.
7. My stainless steel solar powered unit is tarnishing, what can I do?
Use soapy water or CLR and lightly scrub with stainless steel wool until clean.
